Phat Sunny Bunny is the stage name of Vasily Arsenjev, an open-format DJ and radio host who has been playing since 1999 — around twenty-five years behind the decks.
He came up through Russian club culture and radio rather than through a record label. He was a resident at Europa Plus in Moscow and at GarageFM, and he has played guest slots across a long list of Russian cities. Radio is a large part of how he works: he hosts as well as mixes, and he is comfortable on a microphone, which is not the norm for a house DJ.
Open-format is the honest description of his range. House is the centre of it — funky, disco, club, vocal, soulful, deep — but vocal trance, drum & bass, dance classics and rock are all in range, and he builds a set around what the room actually needs rather than around a genre. His own press kit lists ten styles.
For Sonic Shift #41, scheduled for 6 September 2026, the set is narrowed to one thing: funky house and disco house. Feel-good, uptempo, crowd-facing.
