Lumiere

Lumiere is Lena Diakova, a DJ and producer based in Belgrade who works the darker, heavier end of drum & bass and breakbeat.

She started mixing in 2006, pulled in by the raw energy and complexity of the music. The records that shaped her are the cold, technical ones — Technical Itch, Current Value, Raiden, Black Sun Empire — and that is still where her sets live: deep, intense atmospheres and sharp-edged rhythms, played with weight rather than speed.

After a break from the scene she is back behind the decks, more focused than before and still rooted in the sound that first pulled her in. No trends, no shortcuts. Her SoundCloud carries a small run of long-form mixes, dated rather than titled, and she is still posting them.

Her Sonic Shift episode, #17, is called "Stay True": an hour of dark drum & bass and breakbeat with no filler — intricate pressure and cold atmospheres, built for people who already know the sound.
